The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL Jobs) is an Indian state-owned Maharatna organization. The Main branch in Gurugram, India and involved mainly in the Transmission of Power/energy. Shri Kandikuppa Sreekant serves as the Managing Director & Chairman of the group. PGCIL gives about 50%+ of the total power produced in Asia/India on its transmission system.
Its former subsidiary business, POSOCO (Power System Operation Corporation Limited) controls power control for National Grid and all state transportation utilities. PGCIL also runs a telecom market under the name POWERTEL.
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) was organized on 23rd-October-1989 under the 1956 Companies Act, with an approved share capital of Rs. 5,000 Cr as a government limited company, wholly controlled by the Indian Government.
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) began working on an administration basis with impact from Aug-1991 and finally, it took over transmission assets from NLC, NHPC, NTPC, NEEPCO, THDC, NPC, SJVNL, etc. in a phased way and it began commercial service in the year 1992-93.
In addition to this, it also won over the work of existing RLDCs (Regional Load Despatch Centers) from CEA (Central Electricity Authority), in a phased way from the year 1994-1996, which have been modernized & upgraded with State-of-the-art ULDC (Unified Load Despatch and Communication) schemes.
Consequently, the NLDC (National Load Despatch Centre) was founded in the year 2009 for overall coordination at the National level.
