The RBI (Reserve Bank of India) was founded on 1st April-1935, by the requirements of the RBI (Reserve Bank of India) 1934 Act. The Central Office of the RBI was originally founded in Calcutta but was permanently relocated to Mumbai in the year 1937. The Main Office is where the Governor meets and where strategies are formed. Though first personally owned, since nationalization in the year 1949, the Reserve Bank Of India is fully recognized by the Indian Government.
The RBI (Reserve Bank of India) offers a supervisory role under the direction of the BFS (Board for Financial Supervision). The Board was established in November-1994 as a representative of the Directors of Central Board of the RBI (Reserve Bank of India) under the Board for Financial Supervision Regulations, 1994.
In April-2018, a Sub-committee of the RBI Board for Financial Supervision was established, under Para 12 and 11 of the RBI (Reserve Bank of India) (BFS) Regulations of 1994. The Sub-committee makes the exercises and functions the rules of inspection and supervision under the RBI Act, 1934 and the Act of Banking Regulation, 1949, in connection to small Foreign Banks, Payments Banks, Local Area Banks, Small Finance Banks, select Non-Banking Financial Companies, select scheduled Urban Co-operative Banks, and Credit Report organizations.
